"To sum it all up, it feels like a dream to have taken part, and in describing the event to friends and family it is hard to quite put into words how special an event it was."

"The opening ceremony left most of the guys stunned and we could not believe that the whole town had come out to greet the teams, and the fantastic and enthusiastic support offered by the children."
Gary Christian (Peel St. Germain/ENG)

"We had heard that the Russian team were strong but when they scored a volley from 20 yards within the first 2 minutes we knew that we were in trouble."

"We may not be great at football, but we will give it our all, we will have a great time and we will make many new friends along the way."

Peel Saint German

Peel Saint German

Our team is comprised of friends who have known each other for most of our lives. We have all grown up together and share a passion for football and seeking out new adventures. Most of our team have played for teams in the Isle of Man Football Association League (at varying standards) before creating Peel Saint German 5 years ago. Since then we have played a number of times together, notably at English Premier League and Football League grounds such as Sunderland's Stadium of Light, Wolverhampton Wanderers Molineux Stadium, Preston North End's Deepdale and Tranmere Rovers stadium, Prenton Park. We are constantly seeking out new challenges and adventures and our trip to Gspon to represent England will most definitely be a new high point.

About the village

Peel

The Isle of Man is a small Island in the Irish Sea, located between England and Ireland. Peel is a small village of 3,500 people on the West Coast. Peel itself is mostly at Sea Level, with its highest point being the summit of Peel Hill at 148 metres.

The Isle of Man is fairly well known in the sporting world for events and sportspeople on two wheels. The Isle of Man TT is probably the most famous motorbike event in the World and takes place each year over the Mountain Circuit, a 37.7 mile course that takes in villages, mountains and twisting country roads. Also the former World Champion cyclist, Mark Cavendish hails from the Isle of Man, as do a number of other professional riders. We hope we can add our names to this list of sportspeople from our small Island through our trip to the Swiss Mountains!
